Let me preface my comment by saying that I love this song and its message! I enjoy it a lot.Now...Plot twist: After he played "Lean on me" with his Boombox she notified the police for stalking and domestic disturbance. Additionally, if the singer was black, they would have "attacked"/"threatened" the officers, prompting them to forgo all their years of training in handling delicate interpersonal situations and later report a " lethal self-defence shooting". Weirdly, all the body-cam footage would be missing too. This song has such a weird ending. /s

A genuinly great song, and the way it sounds musically is amazing, but I really can't stop thinking about the actually sciencetific experiments, where it turned out, that a lot of boys would only help girls, if the suffere were in the same situations, going as far, as driving with them in the ambulance for a kind of date. Not really accusing Benjamin of double standards, but just think a bit, about how the song would be so much more unique, if it didn't have the "boy meet girl" undertones, and it was about two guys.

Jeez, a song hasn't made me tear up in a while. Well done, Alec Benjamin, you're truly talented.

I think this is my most favorite song I’ve ever listened to. It’s a story, just like all his other songs. It doesn’t matter to him what the sound is. All that matters is that she can trust him if she wants to talk, and he’s willing to help her.

This resonates with me so strongly, trying to hide your pain from others while at the same time begging them to notice you

Something I love about the song is that he isn't singing about rescuing this girl and subsequently becoming her boyfriend... he just wants to help someone he has sympathy for. He's singing about offering her the support and courage she needs to rescue herself with no expectations to become his girlfriend for it... unlike so many other "nice guy" songs. <3
