Great live version
They were great!
Sad to see Keith struggling to keep up. He’d been California Dreaming the past two years and it took its toll.
Good gawd the energy Pete has, numero uno baby!!
1:35 Keith's face when he almost fails catching the stick xd"hope Pete wasn't looking"
Alembic bass!!!!
The Ox really bosses it here, and Roger's voice is husky and strong! Great stuff this.
Puto el que le dio dislike
uhhh what's going on at the end there
wow! bet they were fantastic back in 77!
That bass would be too heavy for any other band
me and me mate was there... some midweek call out on the radio said: free gig... first come... middle of the day for a promo vid... punk was rampant... but then filming stopped because the crowd was so not fucking bothered! ... had to be told to be 'excited' haha... they sang about wanting to die before they got old... they haven't... Moon was so fucking punk, though...
maybe a testament to their power and so much more...
1:31-1:58 keith
I guess older who songs gives moon license to be even more random. I have no idea what he was doing, doubt he knew either, probably every song is a different interpretation for him and it all sounded AMAZING, as always.
No Substitutes for John and Keith...
Sex Pistols version much better.
i think they really liked this song
This gonna be great I like it the whole crowd was feel good crazy was the perfomer was crazy fucking this is great..............
WowWow wow wow wow wow
go moon....ur like animal from d muppetta...legends
A working-class punk anthem before punk was invented No wonder the Sex Pistols did a cover version and they hardly ever gave props to anyone else.
When Pete Townshend met John Lydon and Paul Cook, the first thing he did was apologizing for having become a Rock Dinosaur, at which Lydon said "No, not at all, we really LOVE the 'Oo!"Before explaining how Townshend was considered to be a hero of the punk genre. As to return the compliment, Townshend wrote "Who are you?"
One of the Best Bands ever!-no substitution - x Wammy
Moon isn't playing that badly - a big problem is the drum sound sucks. He sounded a lot better with the snare and toms cranked up in pitch.
Fathers of punk rock
Epic Show, made on a shoestring budget and still Iconic, people should learn from this.
Still sounds simply excellent - after all these years later! I reckon that if this was re-released, it would readily go to Number One. The lyrics are timeless: just as applicable now as then, many years ago.
God I love their energy!
The others dressed the same as shepperton, what's the story why keith didnt?
fred long he gained too much weight - he couldn’t fit into that purple jumpsuit.
Greatest Rock band of all time.
Thanks for a utube live video of the Who that I can hear Pete's guitar on
Terry Jones from MOnty Python could have played Keith moon in his film biography
Girl at the beginning flashing an Illuminati sign ,,Mandela effect
Mooney the great
excellent! what energy here! Wow!!
2:24 entwistle.exe has stopped working
Whatduh stuck tape
Yeah, but would you Cntrl + Alt+ Delete this? I wouldn't.
Tape needs a substitute
They’re probably the best sloppy players in recorded music history.
Best rhythm section EVER
A band used by all others to measure their own self worth.
One of the great live rock bands ever. Certainly the greatest drummer and bass player. Townsend and Daltry enjoying the ride over the greatest rhythm section ever.
Keith Moon wrote the book on rock drumming and Entwisle on bass playing. Any great drummers and bass players that you hear these days came from them. You hear great drumming like that all the time but when Moon started it nobody was doing anything like it.
STILL ROCKING GREAT AS EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hated the lead singer they could have been greater with another front man.he was very average and wrote none of the songs.
"He didn't write any of the songs". That as maybe, but is that really relevant?
was the most laid back bass player in the world
one of the best songs ever made
entwistle genioo!!!
Definitively... the best on stage.......
Clicking on these "Live at Kilburn" posts. Thank you for the upload! So awesome to see them w/Keith.
His Dad was black? Looks it. Good to be racially aware.
I think this concert is one of the best audio recording of entwistles tone, i love it, i can hear everynote!
Substitute....hell yeeaahh:)
Yeah...Substitute & Young Man Blues stop me cold no matter what I’m doing.
1:32 - and he doesn't miss a single beat! Keith Moon is the best ever.
Even when he is almost at his worst state physically he is still the best drummer to ever live, yes I can play like him but he is and always will be the best rock drummer to ever live on this earth!
0:08 it's weird what that chick does. ..alien?
Must have been hard for Roger Daltrey being surround by 3 musical genesius
Real Recognise Real come on the blokes a great front man no one could deliver lyrics lime that and 55 years later he's still going he's a genius my friend
Not sure folks understand Rog’s significant and critical contributions to this band. Vocal range and evoking emotion like no other is exceptional. Roger was just important.
Actually you're kind of right it was tough in the beginning of the who for Roger it wasn't until when tommy was being made Pete Townshend started to respect him a lot since Roger improved as a singer and could sing higher notes
You’re telling me the man behind some of the greatest rock n roll screams isn’t a genius?
What kind of Illuminati hand sign was that cutie giving a few seconds in? LOL.
It looks like either the pyramid illuminati hand sign or doing a pig face look. All the celebrities do the illuminati hand signs now. They get away with it because they all get treated like GODS !!!!!!!
Keith Moon ... what an animal on kit. haven't watched him in some time, he is just as thrilling as ever to watch today as he was back in 70's live. WOW !!
0:05 it was like someone started up a bloody jet engine. Thunder freakin fingers.
1:30 what is keith moon
01:35 keith moon <3
In my opinion, the song sounds better in 1.25 speed
....NOBODY COULD BLOW THEM OFF THE STAGE!....not in those days!
Why does video freeze at 2:26 even though sound continues?
It froze because it couldn't handle John's awsomeness
Keith Moon gave 150% of himself to everything he did.
i was born with a plastic spoon in my arse
At Least it was LIVE !
The WHO never got any better than this. A rock band at the height of their powers, you can hear it on LIVE AT LEEDS. After this, and Keith's death they were just The Who. Having said that Roger Daltrey will always be in my top 3 vocalists.
Nothin' & No One!
John entwistle was the greatest bass player, The who have never been the same since John died.
They should call themselves 'Half A Who'!!!
1:36, magician on the drum set!
Why does it lock up on Entwistle at 3:00?
So that Hipsters can study his stash in great detail in order to copy it!
John entwistle Is one of the greatest bass players of all time, My 2nd favourite bass player only behind Paul Simonon From The Clash.
Keith moon looked bad! at this point hard to believe he's only 31 here, Plus Keith wasn't really playing The drums here, You can tell the drugs got hold of him.
Keith wasn't really really playing? Then who's the guy in the purple wizard suite that is nailing every beat of this song? Get your ears checked, He played his ass off this whole show and I know many drummers who agree!
Boat Axe yes on this song he's playing really well but at this point 77-78 his drumming had gone down hill because Of all the drugs his roadie even said by 1978 he could barely hole a drum stick when the Who re recorded the kids are already he couldn't even play a hole song.
paul you're off your rocker, this playing is amazing
Pete Schork ........Pauls comment is sad, but true I'm afraid.
Pete Townshend once said that none of the musicians in the who were really conforming to the instrument they played. For example: Keith NEVER was doing the traditional "Boom-pop-boom-pop" rhythm patterns on his drums, so it was Pete who started doing them on his guitar instead because there had to be SOMEBODY holding the beat down because Keith sure as hell wasn't doing it.John's role as the bass player was basically about filling in the low end and getting a wall of sound going. But John NEVER played that traditional bassist role, he always began to solo around, taking over lead guitar duties because of Pete having to hold the Rhythm down, not being able to do a solo. And Keith was as Pete puts it "the Symphony Orchestra" I guess that says enough, what more explanation do you need?
Pete is a Genius, but was Very Wrong or messed up at the time he said that. You surely don’t believe that, do you?
I'm forever grateful that I had the golden opportunity to see this band in their prime (Fall 1975). I stood behind just three layers of people between myself and the stage. I could hear the boys off mike between songs, and for two consecutive songs I focused on Keith Moon. I have never seen another performer since who knew EXACTLY what they were doing onstage. Despite being affected by substances Keith could pull off every strike, every kick precisely where it needed to be. He could play the whole show blindfolded and not miss a single fill. I'll never forget thinking "Damn, that's a lot of ride toms!" He played as if he was an Octopus. He was literally a blur. Just look at all the photos of him onstage. The shutter speed on the camera could hardly keep up with his flailing! Say what you will about what may have been wrong with him psychologically but often "genius" comes with some affliction.
Despite being affected by substances? More like, Because he was affected by substances! Almost every great musician in the history of music has been affected by substances! Why? Because they work to an extent contributing to creativity and providing energy. Of course the drugs usually end up taking their toll and one must know when to stop as I did ( clean 20 years ) but we cannot truthfully deny that they work for a while.
It's amazing that Moon was only around 30 when he died. He looked a hell of a lot older. His lifestyle really did a number on him.
He was 32, but your point is well taken.
Hard to believe Keith is only 31 years old here. Looks closer to 51.
mjanovec it's all the drugs
Hard living , excessive alcohol and cocaine abuse will do that to a person
Check your vision...
Keith was terrible form ughhh really saddens me.... 😔
Um das melhores músicas de rock de todos os tempos. I love The Who.
That bass lick at 1:07. Entwhistle was amazing.
Bunne Rabb it's pure quality, like a lead guitar
@sketchbook They didn't call him "old thunderfingers" for nothing.
They all were amazing in their prime. You don't get bands like them any more.
Greatness
Pete high as a kite here
Bellísimo
pete sure can swagger on stage, makes rock n roll exciting
"Hey what band is this?"-0:06"Oh shit it's The Who." John Entwistle's the freaking man.
1:08 the best bass player
Pete T calls him the lead guitarist who just happens to play a bass
The Ox totally rocked this show.
The mighty Ox
This is what early punk rock would have been like if people had learned to actually play.>:8o
At 2.04 John must be smiling at Keith thinking listen know how badass we are right now at 2.04 to 2. 12
no, Keith fucked up so he gives him the grin
ok I take on board all you have said and have to agree the Stones and the beatles eclipse all others in the great pantheon of rock n roll .For me,the sheer power of the who propels them into the all time greats category! nice to "debate"this without profanity which appears de rigeur these days?
Ox smile?! I don' believe it =D
great great band but the fab four first
Look bloody young !!!!
my master The Ox
My Lord
thunder fingers
@Carlos Espinola Yes!
Our Master!
Best brit band ever!!
Thats why They took the Clash out with them in 82..Townshend Knew it was time to move it on over.
zim1966 WHUT??? The Clash were one of the biggest bands in the world at the end of the 70s. Pete wanted to tour with them to increase ticket sales. Nothing wrong with that.
Richie B.....read Zim again.....the who took the Clash "out" with them on the road to hand over the throne!...ding ding!...PLUS...It's only a matter of opinion whether the stones owned the Beatles, the Beatles were so great they couldn't tour, the Stones never came close. I was there, the stones were fuckin it!..but the Beatle were on a whole 'nuther level! ...I seen 'Help' in the Theater and the movie was stopped at the very start, the manager came in and demanded the girls sit down and shut up! and put their bras and sweaters back on!..never seen nothing even close to that and I've seen it all! BUT!!!! AS far as live on stage...the Who REIGNED, and not even Jimmi could take that from them!
Have you ever heard the stones live......They are fuckin terrible.
Karl Cunliffe - Gotta agree, The Stones ARE weak live.
That Ox chugging solo at the end though.. ;)
this is when they substituted their gin for coke, fucking great man
