IT's amazing, Beethoven has truly reached immortality through his music. Nearly 200 years later and we are still enjoying this masterpiece, it has become so ingrained into music that you'd be hard pressed to find a person who doesn't recognize this piece.

This is pure music. If anyone wishes, get the movie IMMORTAL BELOVED with Gary Oldman as Beethoven. Gives good insight as to what he had to overcome. It was so sad that in one scene, he puts his to the floor just to feel the vibration.

@indonesia viral Judging from the orchestras homepage a ticket is somewhere between $47 and $235 depending on where you want to seat. Having experienced at least parts of this beautiful Symphony in person, I would definetely say that's worth it!

performed this four times in one week (as a chorister) back in 1979 or 1980: once on the campus of the University of Hartford (Hartt School of Music, where I was an undergrad choral ed, student), once at UConn (whose choir we were working with), and twice with the Hartford Symphony (and UConn Chorus and the Hartt Concert Choir) as part of a Beethoven festival.I have a love/hate relationship with it. It gives me a rush, especially the end, especially when the audience is really into it and is already standing and cheering as the last note fades away. But Beethoven was crazy and demanded impossible things from his chorus--at least if you sing it four times in a week. :)
