Still miles ahead of so much music.

  4. Bob

This tune is even fun to play along to with my bass even though it's very repetitious for a bass, it has so much feeling though that it's never boring, it's inspiring on the bass, especially if you sneak a few extra notes in here and there.

First heard this song back in the summer of 2001 on Tony Mowod's evening program on WDUQ in Pittsburgh back when it was a jazz station. This was the song that got me into Jazz music. Miles, Coltrane, Bill Evans, Cannonball all here...simply amazing.

If you need some notes about this music here you go:Genre: Blues (duh :P)Instruments: Piano, trumpet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, double bass, drumsDifferent between tenor and alto sax: Tenor sax is bigger and produces a mellow and deep sound. Alto sax is smaller and produces a higher pitched and brighter sound.Your welcome! I might have ended up having the same listening homework as you!

Wow! Thanks for share it! #ClassicMonday #Jazz

  36. 1960r2001v1968m2006t

There is something so special about the way Miles plays his horn. He literally takes you on a journey. He lays bare so many emotions. You feel his sadness; his blues, his solitude. He made it look so effortless.

  37. Paul Shuler

Love that moment when Jimmy Cobb switches from brushes to sticks and Miles kicks in with the solo. Gives me chills every time. ru-clip.net/video/-488UORrfJ0/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE.html

Jazz is so absolutely real !!!! I remember when I reached my 30's and all of a sudden I wanted more of a defined sound that went with my life so I went to the music store and "Kind of Blue " just reached out to me, Im serious,it said if you are starting to try Jazz this should be your first thing to listen to, so I bought it, and Miles trumpet made me want to draw, and I dont draw, but I did that day and I did really well, its amazing the sounds guided me, I ve been drawing ever since. The music is never the same, you always hear something different, I feel that is what I love about Jazz. Before I leave this earth ,Im gonna take a trip, round trip I hope and just dig me some Jazz(sorry Miles) all day.
