I might have an interpretation to the title of this song. Correct me if I'm wrong of course. Due to the localitzation of the band (finnland) and the style of the music it's nearly obious that the "gods" are from the norse mithology. But why treacherous? I do believe it's because the autor of this song read some myths and saw the real mischievousness of the norse gods. Where we see that the most is in the second paragraf: "I have seen through the eyes of a wolfAnd felt all its pain and loneliness"The wolf, I believe it's Fenris. Fenris was the son of Loki ( a norse god know for his "malicious" acts), that with Angrboda bred, not only Fenris but to more sons that are Jormungandr and Hel. But Fenris was special. He was a big big wolf that every day grew bigger. All the gods but Tyr, believed that Fenris must be prisoned by powerful chains. Tyr just had fun with him and fed him every day. They tried one and another time to put him under the power of chains, telling him that if he was so powerful that why he didn't brake those chains in sign of it. But nonetheless the chains were incredibly strong, Fenris would brake them. But the gods were clever, and they made a chain (well the dwarfs made it), from the roots of a mountain, the footsteeps of a cat or the beard of a woman, noninexistent things. The wolf seeing that, instantly know that it was a trap, so he said that he would only let them put that chain, if one of them left his hand in his open jaw, in his mouth. Obiously Tyr, his partner and friend, put the hand in his jaw. And what happened? Well, tyr left the place without the right hand and Fenris was binded and therefore, treasoned. There you can see also the gods laughing of Fenris, everyone but one, Tyr. That's one reason. The injust binding of Fenris to rest there alone till the start of Ragnarok where the gods shall fall. In the end, i like some gods and dislike some others in my opinion. Like Loki, he's not so bad and mischief sometimes even I would prefer him to the gods. Tyr is great. For the Fenris thing obiously. But well, that's just going to other themes and discussion há há.That's my interpretation of the song. Maybe I'm deeply wrong, I do not know that. Hearing that 1st note from this song I know that I must put my volume up to its max level. Though my eardrums hurt, it is worth it to feel being so close to perfection. Around me people start looking at my house because it starts shaking of the decibels rampaging out of my music boxes. I just forget what I am doing and close my eyes.
