I was five years old when my father started physically and emotionally abusing me and it lasted until I was well into my teen years.I would never open up to anybody about it because I was persistent to move past it. But, after awhile people started noticing a major change in my attitude and lack of interest in anything. I started lashing out at people and getting into fights. I was spiraling deeper and deeper into the depths of my depression. But, all the gloomy details I'll leave out. After all was said and done, I got the help I needed and then a couple months before my 19th birthday I started talking to the woman I'm now engaged to and we've been together ever since. I just turned 25 two days ago.This song helps me alot and I've let it all go. But there are still times that my past gets to me, that's when I just fall into my fiance's arms and let her be my rock when I need help. This song hits home so I know and understand everything Kane is talking about. I've been through it and I survived it.So, thank you so much for this song Kane.

i went to his concert in st.Augesting and whenever i hear this song it just puts me into tears bc i have an emotional conection to this song i was raped 2 times and sexually assaulted during school so this has a huge impact on me. (just so everyone knows im only 13yo)

I listen to this and think of a cousin I have a feud with. I said sorry, I apologized and I tried. And I just think, is this ever gonna end? I think about my dad, and all the pain he caused, will I ever forgive him? My teachers who humiliated and made me feel like trash, will I ever succeed? And I listen to this and it reminds me to keep going and keep forgiving. Holding onto it will only hurt me more than letting go.

I would like to send a thank you out to Kane for writing this. As a survivor of childhood abuse this song touches my soul. I spent years learning how to forgive someone who was never sorry. It's one of the hardest things I have ever done, but there is a point you realize it is only hurting you to hold on to the pain. No the pain does not actually leave, it is a part of us. I found that the anger left though and I finally felt a calm inside me. By letting it go I found that I freed myself.

It’s crazy bc that’s the same thing I was through abused by my stepdad my mom went through stuff she was getting drunk and shaking me until I passed out and I was a baby and my nanny walked in and slapped her across her face and my nana thought the house was on fire my mom was so drunk she could not hear me cry and my nana had to bust open the door to get us both out safely and my little brother I have not seen in 3 years I got blamed for everything he did and I would get beaten with a whip but I learned to forgive so I’m happy and the time I was 7 I had a story to tell about what happens when I was abused at 6 years old
