She claimed to have written the piano coda, not the whole song or really any of the riffs that Clapton wrote and made famous...it was also her boyfriend who took credit for the piano part, not Eric Clapton. The keyboard player for the Dominoes confirmed Eric wrote Layla and Jim added the piano part.

The coda of layla is one of the most beautiful pieces ever written. I’d say it’s the part of the song that was meant for his lover.

One of the greatest songs ever! This is like two songs in one , two fantastic songs in one ! I read Clapton's autobiography which was written nearly 20 years ago and in it he said that music today is pretty much the same as when I started in the business. And when I read that I stopped and thought to myself, no way! The music today is crap! Then I finished reading what Eric Clapton wrote which went like this: It's 95% Rubbish, 5% pure. And I remember thinking how spot-on he was. Although I may disagree a little bit, I think it's more like 99% rubbish today, 1% pure. But we all get the point. Long Live Clapton!
