Has anyone here connected the story of cardigan, august, and betty? It's the same story told from three different perspectives. Hear me out.Let's start backwards shall we? In betty, James sings about how he wronged Betty by sleeping with someone else over the summer (when does summer end? August). The girl whom he slept with picked him up her in her car (which is also something that the girl singing august mentions, that she picked up the boy in her car). James further mentions that all the time he was with this girl, he thought of Betty (which is again something the girl in august mentions, that all the time they were together, he was lost in his memories). The relationship ends as the summer ends.James realises that he misses Betty, and claims that at 17, he didn't know any better (but Betty sings the exact opposite, that even when she was young, she knew things). James decides to make amends with Betty, by going to her "party", we can assume that the said party is at Betty's house, because James ends up at her doorstep.Betty on the contrary sings of how she always knew that James would end back on her porch. Additionally, she mentions them kissing in the car, under the streetlight. The same thing that James also sings of. And to top it all, when James finally goes to see her, she's wearing her old "cardigan". My mind is blown. Taylor, you genius. (James could be a girl too. Definitely, definitely.)
