People saying RED should have won the Grammy, honestly, I think for once the recording academy made the right decision by waiting for her come up with 1989 (which would go on to become the most influential, definitive soundtrack of our generation), because it's not enough that Album of the Year is an album of lyrical genius, and amazing production. First, Album of the Year, by definition should be given to the album that defined a year. OF THE YEAR. Second, an album of the year is one when the artist significantly changed or impacted a mindset or community or society he or she is in with their artistry. That to me, is what "Album of the Year" is. Now we all know that for 2014-2016 Taylor Swift was EVERYWHERE, she CHANGED the music industry. She BECAME the music industry. RED was an excellent album, but it was no 1989. 1989 was, and remains the Album of the Year of 2014.
